Setting up and Exporting copyright royalties (BUMA) in Artwin Live

If you regularly pay copyright royalties (BUMA) for your artists, you can automate this process in Artwin Live. Artwin Live calculates royalties based on the artist’s fee and displays them in a clear overview under Bookings → BUMA.

Setting up BUMA
BUMA settings are managed within the budget or deal of a booking. If you’re unfamiliar with budgets, see the article Creating Budgets in Artwin Live.

  1. Open the booking.
  2. Navigate to the Budget tab.
  3. In the Deal section, click Edit next to the line BUMA not applicable.
  4. Choose one of the four available options:
    • Not applicable
    • Handled by client
    • Calculate BUMA
    • Purchase via agency

When you select Calculate BUMA or Purchase via agency, Artwin Live automatically calculates the BUMA amount based on the artist’s fee. If you apply an agency discount, you can manually set the calculation value to ensure that the purchased BUMA amount is fully charged to the client.

In both of these cases, the BUMA amount is automatically displayed on the contract and invoice.

Viewing BUMA
When using BUMA, it’s important to have an overview of all bookings where royalties apply. Artwin Live provides a dedicated BUMA tab in your bookings overview.

  1. Go to Bookings.
  2. Click the BUMA tab.
  3. The overview displays:
    • The BUMA status per booking
    • The base amount used for the calculation
    • The total amount withheld for BUMA

You can filter this view by month or by a custom date range.

Exporting BUMA data
To simplify your royalty reporting to BUMA, you can easily export all data from this overview:

  1. In the BUMA overview, click Export.
  2. An Excel file will download automatically.
  3. This file can be used directly for your BUMA submission, it matches BUMA’s required format.
